I was looking for an old friend of mine. We were good friends until I came out of the closet. I was searching everywhere for him. I went to places that I knew that he liked. My nightmare came to a sudden halt when I was shot at point blank range. I woke up shortly after this happened. (not all details are here. But you get the idea)
I am the type that remembers my dreams. Scary or not. I know I am weird. The dream puzzled me. I was looking for my friend is what stood out mostly about my dream.
As I was driving home from working on the roof, I drove past the place that my friend used to live. I had no clue if he still lived there. As I drove past his house, I saw two guys on his porch.
I thought to myself, well it would not hurt for me to stop by and see if he still lived there. I walked up to his house, worried that he would reject me and tell me to leave. I knock on his door, no answer. I knocked again, just a bit louder this time. The door opens and there stood two young men, I asked if Jerry was home. Both of the guys said almost at the same time "who wants to know?" As I started to say I am Allen, his wife came to the door and said oh my what are you doing here? She did not say it in a threatening way, more of a happy to see you kind of way. She told her boys, that is papa Macks son. Their oldest girl used to call me Uncle Al. As I stood there in disbelief that the two young men where her kids. The youngest is now 14 years old. Which means I have not spoken to them in over 13 years. I cannot believe that I waited this long to visit them.
We talked for over 3 hours. As I started to leave I asked Jerry to walk me out. When we were alone, I apologized to him for any wrong doing to him. I said I know I did something that caused us not to speak. He simply said "you know I have always thought of us as brothers, and you know I still love you as one." It was the best thing I have heard in a very long time. I am hoping that we can rebuild our relationship that we once had. I really do miss it.

Allen, that's wonderful that you reconnected. It sounds like he matured a lot over the years, and maybe that was necessary.
I remember a lot of my dreams, too. I have some really bizarre ones sometimes, and they make me laugh when I wake up!
I cried when I read this post. What a wonderful story.

@ Beth, Actually I think its me that has matured a lot over the past few years. Most of my dreams are pretty cool. But that one was a doosy.
@ Larry, It was pretty cool. =o)
@ Kyle, I am happy that I am getting the chance to do the same.
@ Joann, I hope so. I really want what we used to have. It will be great having them in my life again.
I'm glad that things worked out the way it did. Life is too short to end a good friendship on a misunderstanding.
@ Pat, I agree with you. =o)
