Fox 59 our local news media had this article. I about fell over to see it was Gay Bars that was going smoke free. Funny how our "Family" is moving to smoke free, while the Straight Bars are staying with smoking.
The Bar Owners did a poll at both bars and over 73% agreed that not having smoking in their bars would be a good idea.
I am a smoker and it does not offend me that they went smoke free. I don't think anyone that is a non-smoker should be subjected with second hand smoke.
The City has already a non-smoking in all public buildings except for Bars or Members only areas. But the city is going to make it non-smoking for all.
I personally believe that it should be the owners choice weather they have smoking or not in their business. I also believe that if there is smoking in their business, then there should be a place for it.
The one thing that ticks me off quickly is to see a parent smoking in their car with kids in it. How unfair is that to kids?

My mother smoked through my entire childhood. She knew the dangers of second-hand smoke, but never considered for a moment to not smoke.
I have a friend who smokes but cannot break the addiction no matter what he tries. He's so concerned about his kids being exposed to smoke that when his wife was pregnant with their first child, he stopped smoking in the house and has spent the last 18 years smoking outside on the deck regardless of the weather. I think that's pretty cool of him. But I also think it's funny that he didn't have the same concern for his wife!
My husband and I quit smoking 3 years ago, and I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. We agree that one of the best things is when we fly anywhere, we don't have to worry about going outside and then coming back through security, or about which airports still allow smoking, etc. It makes life much easier!
Enjoy the weekend!
I am also a smoker, having failed several times to quit. I don't smoke around children, and try to avoid it around non-smokers. I don't mind venturing outside to smoke, but still hope to quit at some point.
Hey Allen (5 years smoke free for me on Nov.13), Did you know smoking is bannned in ALL public places in ILLINOIS and within 15' of the entrances, that's ALL places, bars and casinos included! And cigarette tax is very high here.
I have witnessed adults smoking in vehicles with children too, and it is so mean!
