Humane Society - not here

In the past 5 years that I have lived here we have had 2 different animals left on our door step.

For the past 3 weeks we have had 3 different animals left on our door step (one each week). The last one just pissed me off to no end. Someone tied a dog to my light pole that is in my side yard and left it with out food or water. I assume it happened after 10pm because that is when my company left.

One of my great neighbors, north of me, left a note on the door, saying:

We saw a dog tied up to the light pole in your yard. It's been tied up since about 11pm last night. We took it to our house to give it food and water. If it's your dog, It's in our back yard.

I went in and typed out this sign and stapled it to a piece of wood and nailed it on the pole that faces the street, so all could read it.

As I am nailing this sign to the pole, the neighbor directly across the street, met me and started the 50 questions:

1. You know the neighbor has "your" dog?
2. Why would "you" leave a dog tied up with out food and water.
3. When did you get a dog?
4. Are "you" sure its not "your" dog?

After the 50 questions where done she was walking to the neighbor that had the dog. I guess to let them know that it wasn't mine.

I am extremely happy that a neighbor felt sorry for the dog, and took it home and fed it.

All of this makes me mad and sad, to think that my neighbors think that I am a bad person for leaving a dog tied up with out food and water. I have owned dogs, cats, birds, horses, and loved all of them like they were my children. I have never or will ever do that to any animal.

I hope we don't get anymore next week.
