Working at Walt Disney World - Part 1

The phone rang. I answered it, it was Walt Disney World calling me with an over the phone interview. I was so nervous. A friend coached me piror to the phone interview. He said smile a lot, and answer everything correctly.

I felt stupid for smiling over the phone, but I guess it paid off. They called me a second time to step up and face to face interview.

The drive up to Disney World, was so intense, I was excited and scared all at the same time. I remember walking into the building. It was so cool, Disney stuff every where, videos playing, and ever person that worked there had a smile on their face. They were nice.

Once I achieved the interview, she said we have you hired in as busser at Cosmic Ray's Cafe in the Magic Kingdom. She handed me my packet and out the door I went. I took my packet home and read every thing. One of the papers inside said where to be and what dress clothes to wear, and a very long list of what not to wear. We had to meet at Disney University. I had no clue that they had a University.

The day came, I headed out the door 3 hours ahead of time. I knew that I-4 could get bad some times. Plus, I did not really know where I was going. We had to be there early. I mean it was like 8 am. The drive on I-4 was smooth, I pulled onto World Drive, and drove for the Magic Kingdom, the guys at the booth smiled and said welcome home. I thought that was cool. He said follow that yellow line, it will take you where you need to go.

Once at the University we had 3 days of classes, they start you off in class training. On the last day of training, they said you have a couple of hours before the park closes go play. I went to my location. I wanted to see what I agreed to. Once I found the restaurant my mouth fell open. I have never in my life seen a place so large. I was told later that it was the second largest fast food restaurant in the world. I believe it.

I walked around and saw all the sites that the restaurant had, the park had closed, while I was just looking around. This lady was behind the counter and said can I help you, she did not have a costume on. She had a nice dress suite. I said, I am going to be working here, as soon as the classes are over. She stuck out her hand, she shook it like I was a long lost friend, she smiled really big. She said I am the General Manager, welcome aboard. Then she said you need to get going the park is closed.
